Service to Man is service to God. Keeping this ideal of Swami Vivekananda in the forefront, the Ashrama lays stress on relief and social welfare activities amongst the population of the region.
- The Ashrama conducts relief services in the event of natural calamities like flood, cyclone, etc. Such relief has been carried out on a large scale through the Ashrama from Belur Math during devastating cyclones witnessed in the area viz. Umphun and Yaash in recent times.
- Extensive relief was undertaken during the preventive lockdown of the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic when daily life and economic activities came to a standstill. Maid servants who used to work in households and about 300 railway hawkers at Taki station lost their living owing to this sudden stoppage of work, were provided ration consisting of rice, dal, cooking oil, salt, etc. during the time when they had no alternative means of earning their living.
During Covid-19 pandemic, 15 buildings were constructed to give shelter of the poor families who were living on the most unhygienic condition under polythene sheet. - The Ashrama provides free rice, dal, etc. to old and poor persons, of the area.
- Every year, blankets during winter, clothes like shirts, pants, sarees, lungis during the autumn festival and Eid are distributed not only among the poor and needy of the adjoining villages but also of some far flung areas of the Sunderbans.
