HIGH SCHOOL

The Ramakrishna Mission High School has stood the test of time keeping in mind Swami Vivekananda’s message of “man making and character building education”. The High School comprises class 5 to Class 10. Presently, it is affiliated to the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (for the higher secondary course) and West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (for the School Final stage – Madhyamik Pariksha). While commendable standards of academic studies are maintained, the School makes it a point to permeate into the student moral values, helps in personality development, encourages cultural pursuits like art, drama and music and building of character. Considerable effort is given on sports and physical education. With due respect and honour, bhe birth anniversaries of great men are observed along with national festivals and regional festivals of importance. The High School has to its credit, excellent overall results in the School Final examinations of the State Board (Madhyamik Pariksha). The alumni of the School are present in commendable positions in the government and private sectors in the country as well as abroad.

PRIMARY SCHOOL

The Primary School has evolved to be an educational institution imparting education in the light of Swami Vivekananda during the formative years of a child during the period class 1 to class 5 school. A boys’ only school, it has more than four hundred students on its rolls at present. Students are admitted irrespective of caste, creed and religion. The curriculum covers development across physical, mental and intellectual as also stressing on knowledge of Indian culture and activities involving arts, music and sports.

Admission to the Primary School takes place from Class 1 through a recruitment process.

VIVEKANANDA PATHSHALA

Free coaching centres in the name of Vivekananda Pathshala was being run where students from economically backward families are taught under the able supervision of teachers. Units are run where 20 students are assigned to one teacher. Teachers are chosen from educated unemployed youth. Apart from studies, cultural activities like song, dance and recitation are carried on too. Adequate help is extended to poor but meritorious students every year in the form of text books, books for higher studies, scholarships, financial aid. Clothes are distributed once a year. At present there are 7 units of Vivekananda Pathshala operational under the Ashrama.

GADADHAR ABHYUDYAY PATHSHALA

A project was begun during the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, 2 units of Gadadhar Pathshala operate at present, one in the Ashram premises and the other at Sulkuni Island under Hasnabad police station. Under each unit, 2 teachers and one attendant look after a number of children. The children are taken through a routine which helps not only in their studies but also healthy upbringing. Yoga and exercises are practised every day, nutritious meals are provided keeping a strict eye on the food value, books and other study materials like exercise copies, pens, pencils, etc. are given and drawing and other cultural activities like drama, singing and recitation are laid stress on.
